The Race to Promontory: The Transcontinental Railroad and the American West

For the first time in nearly 150 years, the three original, ceremonial railroad spikes presented during the festivities at Promontory Summit on May 10, 1869, are reunited at Joslyn Art Museum in Omaha, Nebraska. They are the centerpiece of a landmark art exhibition featuring a unique collection of photographs chronicling The Race to Promontory, many of which have never been publicly viewed.
