Cargo ship hits naval mine in the Black Sea

Two people have been injured after a Panama-flagged cargo ship hit a mine in the Black Sea. The ship’s captain was reportedly forced to run it aground to prevent it from sinking after losing control of the vessel. According to Ukrainian authorities, the cargo ship was heading to the River Danube port to load grain. A photo released by officials in Ukraine appears to show the explosion which caused a fire on the ship’s upper deck. A rescue operation is now underway to tow the ship to a nearby port.
