Two prostitutes, Karen {Karen Black} and Mary {Toni Basil}, join Wyatt {Peter Fonda} and Billy {Dennis Hopper} to the Mardi Gras festival. After wandering through the parade-filled streets, they settle up in a cemetery where all four ingest LSD. They experience a psychedelic bad trip merged with Catholic prayer; represented through quick edits, sound effects, spiraling visuals and over-exposed film.
