One Way Street 1972 LP: Last Time Around - Nicodemus
ONE WAY STREET
Last Time Around (North Park College SS-25325) 1972
Opening with a crisp cover of Jonathan and Charles’ ‘Songs In The Daytime’, this male/female 6-person outfit proves themselves worthy contenders in the folk and folkrock categories. Some songs like Linda Rich’s ‘Man Of Galilee’ are done in a simple acoustic format while others like ‘If It Be Tonite’ and the Youngblood’s ‘Get Together’ plug in the electric for a jangly garage angle. Original compositions like ‘Waiting For You’ and ‘Nicodemus’ zero in on a Way-styled pastoral acoustic rock sound with excellent results. Nice amateur intentions throughout, buoyed by some respectable guitar leads. Other renditions include ‘Day By Day’, ‘What The World Needs Now’ and Country Faith’s ‘Two Roads’.
