LIVE: EU’s Borrell briefs media following crisis meeting on Afghanistan

The High Representative of the European Union Joseph Borrell is holding a press conference following a crisis meeting on Tuesday, August 17, to discuss the Taliban’s seizure of power in Afghanistan. The group entered Kabul with no resistance on Sunday after a blitz offensive in which regional capitals fell into the insurgents’ hands. President Ashraf Ghani fled the country on the same day.
