Jaromír Nohavica - Když mě brali za vojáka Also known as Operation Danube, on the 20th August the Warsaw Pact (with the exception of Romania), invaded Czechoslovakia to reverse its policy of liberalisation. For unclear reasons, the military of Czechoslovakia was ordered to stand down prior to the invasion and so resistance came in the form of protests in every major town and city in the country which would lead to 137 deaths and around 500 seriously wounded, including a number of self-immolations.
