Hero Dublin driver describes stopping attacker by ’hitting him with helmet’
A hero Deliveroo driver stopped a horror knife attack near a school in Dublin by ’knocking the guy with his helmet’. Caio Benicio, 43, intervened to stop the attacker during the ordeal that unfolded in the city’s Parnell Square, near to a Irish language medium primary school, at around lunchtime on Thursday.
The incident saw a girl, 5, needing emergency treatment for serious injuries while a woman was also badly hurt. Two other children, a five-year-old boy and a six-year-old girl, were also hurt, however their injuries are not as serious.
Local police say a man who was seriously injured at the scene is a person of interest. The incident sparked mass rioting in Dublin, with police condemning it as “gratuitous thuggery“.
