Brazil sees significant decline in food insecurity
A recent survey conducted by the non-profit “Zero Hunger Institute“ has revealed a significant decline in severe food insecurity among Brazilians. It found the number of individuals facing this challenge dropped from 33 million in 2022 to 20 million by the end of 2023. Some attribute the decline to a series of strategic measures implemented by Brazil’s President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, who has voiced his commitment to attaining the UN Sustainable Development Goal of eradicating hunger by 2030.
To learn more about this progress, CGTN’s Lucrecia Franco spoke to the director and co-founder of the Zero Hunger Institute, Jose Graziano da Silva, via webcam from his residence in Chile.
