“King Midas In Reverse“ written by members Graham Nash, Allan Clarke, and Tony Hicks is one of the Hollies’ most interesting and original songs. Beginning with its introductory guitar riff, the driving drum beat, and orchestral background, the song surges with energy and depth. Recorded on August 3 and 4, 1967 and released as single on September 22 on Parlophone in the UK and Epic in the US, “King Midas in Reverse“ only made #18 in the UK charts and #51 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and was considered a commercial failure, ultimately contributing to Graham Nash’s decision to leave the group. I personally think that it is one of the Hollies’ greatest recordings. I do not own the right to the song, audio, or images contained in this video.
