I wanted to show that in the life of the boys there were so many situations when they barely kept it together, when they barely made it out alive, etc. And at the same time they had a lot of good moments too. In the beginning I wanted to show this kind of simple life they had in the early seasons - how Dean came to Sam to Stanford, how they hit the road, how they were solving cases, etc. And then problems.
