The Brother PN-8500 series Super PowerNote was introduced in 1996 as a low-cost alternative to a laptop computer. It uses a Hitachi HD64180 Z80-based processor running at 6 MHz and has a 9-inch non-backlit monochrome LCD, 32 kB of memory available to the user, a MB floppy drive, an optional NiCad battery, serial and parallel ports, and an optional internal data/fax modem.
