Various of smoke billowing in Gaza Strip as seen from southern Israel STORYLINE: Israeli tanks were seen in the country’s south on Monday, as the Israeli Military focused its ground campaign on the Gaza Strip city of Khan Younis. Footage captured by The Associated Press in Southern Israel showed military vehicles and tanks on manoeuvres, and tanks firing. Smoke was captured billowing from the Gaza Strip on Sunday. Since the war started, 25,105 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza, while another 62,681 have been wounded, the Health Ministry said. The toll included the 178 bodies brought to Gaza’s hospitals since Saturday, Health Ministry spokesperson Ashraf al-Qidra said. The Israel-Hamas war started when militants from Gaza attacked southern Israel, killing around 1,200 people and taking about 250 hostages. The United Nations says more than half a million people in Gaza — a quarter of the population — are starving.
