Children’s Village (1956)

Bridge of Weir, Renfrewshire, Scotland L/S of village. M/S girls in summer dresses, going into school. Various shots of a boy hoeing a circular flower bed with ’Have faith in God’ picked out in plants. M/S two boys shifting flower pots into a wheelbarrow. One boy picks up the barrow and wheels it away. M/S a young woman takes down clothes prop, and takes white washing off a line. There are little children in the background. She is wearing short white socks. She hands the clothes to a little girl who puts them in a basket. A small girl, dressed in a woollen coat with a velvet collar picks up the wooden pegs and puts them in the basket. M/S a laundry van drives up to house. Two boys, dressed in denim trousers, pick up laundry basket from back of lorry and carry it up to the house. Various shots of a group of boys, wearing tin helmets, doing a fire drill, with fire equipment, unravelling hose pipes and racing up the garden and fixing them.
