Magic For You Beware - Other Colour Pics Share This Title (1960)

One of a series showing the secrets behind some simple magic tricks using telephone books and tableware. M/S of magician Alan Alan standing at a table with his assistant (pupil?) Maria Lennard seated next to him. He is standing 3 telephone directories on the table on top of a large brown paper bag with another telephone book balanced across the top. He invites ML to try to knock over the books by blowing. She tries this twice, unsuccessfully, then sits back in her chair to indicate she can’t do it. AA shows us the secret is to blow into the paper bag beneath the books; as the bag inflates the books topple over. C/Us of AA and ML. M/S of AA sitting at the table as he sets up the next trick. He sticks the prongs of 4 forks into a cork with a needle in the bottom of it, then balances this on a coin (half a crown) which is stuck into another cork in a bottle of wine. C/Us as he balances the whole thing and then flicks it to set it spinning round and round without overbalancing. C/U of AA’s hand
