Boxing Pub (1957)

A pub with a boxing ring in the back. While the parents gather for a beer or two the youngsters learn how to fight properly. See here footage from Londons only Boxing pub. London. Panoramic shot of the ’gym’ reveals that it is a part of a pub and the coach serves drinks on breaks. Boxing ring area is divided from the bar area with a glass door. Several shots of the bar and the ring - people having drinks and the boys train. Dave McCleave, one of Britain’s greatest boxers, runs the Union Tavern in South London and in its back room runs a boxing club. He trains the boys with help of his friend Tiny Ryan, former amateur featherweight champion of Great Britain.
