Boy Racing Motorist Aka Boy Racing Driver (1955)

Elmswell, Suffolk. L/S of a miniature racing car being wheeled out of a garage. It is the “baby of all midget cars“ and is called: “Icanopit“ apparently. The car is wheeled towards a pile of spare parts. The man who wheeled it out of the garage is seen making repairs to the car. L/S of a young boy approaching the camera - 11 year old Bobby Rayner - followed by a couple of girl fans. C/U of Bobby talking to his “mechanic“ as the girls listen in. Bobby puts on his crash helmet and climbs into the car for a spin on the private track around his house. The car was built by Bobby’s racing motorist father Richard Rayner. Bobby drives off and the girls run after him. L/S of the car racing around the track, the girls encourage him from a pile of sand. Various shots of Bobby driving around. Bobby’s mother runs towards her garden wall and looks over it anxiously as he passes. M/S and L/Ss of Bobby driving around a real racetrack (probably Snetterton). Good travelling shot of Bobby in his car.
