Prince George (1932)

Full title reads: “Suffolk. Prince George names, launches and makes maiden trip in first of magnificent new ’Aldeburgh’ class of lifeboat.“ Aldeburgh, Suffolk. Prince George (Duke of Kent) with civic dignitaries walks down crowd lined pathway. Bunting is hung out in celebration of his visit. Prince George stands at podium and speaks the great record of Aldeburgh’s service to lifeboats. The podium is draped with a Union Jack flag and has two microphones placed on it. He releases a bottle to crash against the stern of the boat to bless her. The crowd cheer and the lifeboat’s crew can be seen standing on the deck of the boat. The Prince climbs up onto the lifeboat which is then launched down the slipway into the sea. The flag of the RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Institute) is flying from its stern.
