Full title reads: “Castleford. ’Like an Earthquake’. 12 killed, hundreds injured and rendered homeless by disastrous Chemical factory explosion.“ Castleford, West Yorkshire. Pan across ruins of wrecked factory destroyed by an explosion. Firemen are playing hoses over the wreckage. The explosion happened after fire started in the Nitric Acid plant. Shots of people loading furniture onto carriage as they move out of their homes. Shots of a policeman inspecting an iron girder that had be thrown hundreds of yards to land on a cow shed. N.B. It is nice to think that this terrible explosion happened because of the same basic chemicals that form the basis of the film stock that these shots are stored on. MD.
