Strong Man Beware - Other Colour Pics Share This Title (1959)

Joe Bloom’s Gymnasium, London. C/U shot of a man cleaning teeth. C/U shot of a lower rung of a chair. The man bites the rung and lifts the chair while a girl is sitting on it. The man is Butty Sugrue, the strongest man in Ireland and, many think, in whole Europe - informs a voiceover. Several shots of Butty turning around with the chair and the girl still ’in his mouth’. The girl is Margaret Ross, a young singer. Butty does most of his training in Joe Bloom’s gymnasium in London. M/S of Butty lifting the weights. Margaret sits on the weights and Butty cheerfully moves around, calling two young men to join Margaret. They come and stand one at each side of a weight and Butty lifts them all and spins them around. On Butty’s left is Noel Cantwell, captain of West Ham football team, and on his right is entertainer Joe Lynch. Two men hug so Butty can attach a belt around their shoulders.
