My New Geiger Counter, says device bad?

About a $100, shipped from USA instead of China. Very high measurement, can set alarm, very small, continuous measurement for about 20 days on one recharge. Looks nice, solid, maybe waterproof, dust proof, .. Arrived with no charge, dead battery. Boots up, says something about root, .. looks but says bad device, doesn’t seem to be reading radiation.
