How to Keep the Most Aggressive African Cichlid: the Demasoni Cichlid

Today’s video is a care guide and species spotlight on the Pseudotropheus demasoni. The Demasoni cichlid is a dwarf species of mbuna that is known to be very aggressive, especially to it’s own kind. This can make it tricky to care for and keep, but with a few simple tank setup considerations, they can be an awesome choice for any fishkeeper. Demasoni are Mbuna cichlids are from Lake Malawi, and they prefer plenty of rockwork to swim in and around. They would eat/destroy any live plants, so that’s why it’s purely a rock scape here. They are extremely active cichlids, and they can be aggressive. Stocking mbuna in high numbers is one strategy to mitigating aggression with this species. For the Demasoni, stocking them in groups will help mitigate aggression, as will having a higher ration of females to males.
