After their iconic set at Joshua was released, I think I probably watched it a combined total of over 200 times. I always knew that one day I wanted to put together a set, head to Joshua Tree and film it. This set was very special for me to make but the process wasn’t easy. First , we were supposed to film at sunset. Unfortunately the wind was just to strong and became a technical issue. We had very limited time to get the shot since the sun goes down in California in the blink of an eye. By the time the wind started winding down, the sun was gone. We had to improvise. We decided to set up lights around these poles as they made a great backdrop. It lit the set enough for people to see that it was clearly outdoors. The part that ended up being my favorite about this set was the simple fact that everything was blacked out in the background. You can’t see past our little nest. Which left mystery to me, while simultaneously allowing the viewer to focus more on me and my set. Even though I wanted this series to work hand in hand with mother nature, compliment each other, have my music highlight mother natures creations around me, I truly believe this was meant to happen this way. I think it gives light to the mystery of mother nature. ☞ Filmed by: SlayTech Cinematography Cam Op: Derek Slayton
