The Lady With the Alligator Purse | The Lady With the Alligator Purse Song | Jack Hartmann

We developed The Lady With the Alligator Purse with educator Deanna Jump to create this song and video of this classic nursery rhyme and children’s story. It’s filled with silly rhyme. Your children will hear all the wonderful rhyming in this song and develop their listening skills for hearing rhyme in our language. Children will also meet the characters in the story; Miss Lucy, Tiny Tim, the Doctor, the Nurse and of course, the Lady with the Alligator Purse. Exposure to rhyme and rhyming has been shown in studies to develop a child’s phonological awareness skills (hearing all the letter sounds and combinations of sounds in our language.) This awareness and listening ability has shown to be significant in helping children to become successful readers. In The Lady With the Alligator Purse video all the images in the nursery rhyme are simple and colorful, and I sing the song in a very clear, slow way for little ones to easily follow. Children will love seeing this video and singing this rhyming song and story over an over because of it’s silliness and simplicity. Listen for all the rhymes.
