King Paimon is the demonic antagonist who motivates all of the horrific events seen in Hereditary. Although Paimon is the main antagonist of the story, many fans know very little about him. His origins go much deeper, back to the 1577 spell book Pseudomonarchia Daemonum. In this video I’ll be analyzing everything we know about King Paimon, including his ancient history, the requirements of summoning him, his revival thanks to Ellen Leigh and her family, his unique abilities, and how his influence touches everything we see in Hereditary. King Paimon is based off of lore seen in Pseudomonarchia Daemonum and The Lesser Key of Solomon, much like previous demons I have covered on Horror History such as Malthus and Valak from The Conjuring franchise.
