EVOLUTION OF THE SWATCH NINES 2024

THE ULTIMATE MOUNTAINBIKE PLAYGROUND: SWATCH NINES MTB 2024 KICKS OFF NEXT WEEK Construction is nearly complete on the biggest build in the event’s history. Above the mountain resort town of @soelden Austria, a massive freeride and slopestyle line thread their way down the slope, crossing multiple times before ending together at the final feature! The course is the result of a 9-month process that began with a design workshop in January 2024, where riders including Erik Fedko (GER), Sam Pilgrim (GBR), Lukas Schäfer (GER), Peter Kaiser (AUT) and Patricia Druwen (GER) put their heads together with Nines designers and partners to let their wildest feature ideas take form. COURSE BUILD QUICK FACTS: 13,300 m2 area 10-week construction phase 21 builders, woodworkers and machine operators 9 excavators, 2 chain dumpers, 1 screening plant 10 years: Estimated lifetime of the setup After the event concludes, the setup will be adapted for public use, and will open the following season as a permanent part of the @bikerepublicsoldensoeldens6626 bike park. In cooperation with local and regional authorities, a comprehensive ecological restoration concept has been developed for the approximately 13,000 square-meter site. Particular attention has been paid to regreening the area.
