J. S. Bach - 3 Sonatas for Viola da Gamba & Harpsichord BWV 1027-1029 - Glenn Gould

Gould maintained a longstanding friendship with the cellist Leonard Rose ever since they and the violinist Oscar Shumsky were made musical directors of Canada’s Stratford Festival in 1956. “In this particular case, I was very amenable to trying to please Glenn stylistically. I did not feel that at that time I was as well acquainted with the music as was Glenn.” I’ve created this aggregate of the 3 sonatas for viola da gamba and harpsichord for my personal use and I’m more than happy to share it with people that appreciate Glenn Gould’s estatic interpretation of these ingenious pieces as much as I do. I’ve gathered the 11 movements into one video just so I don’t have to download all of them one by one on my phone for everyday listening. Pianist: Glenn Gould Cellist: Leonard Rose
