Hypoxia Tolerant Fish Species in the Gulf of California

Footage taken by Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute shows aggregations of catsharks and cusk eels in seafloor waters of the Gulf of California almost completely devoid of oxygen. Researchers led by Scripps biological oceanographer Natalya Gallo described the find in the Nov. 27, 2018 issue of the journal Ecology.
