Both of their lives have now been turned upside down, and it’s clear that our leading lady is far from happy about it. In a spat of rage, she asks a simple question: Who are you? Who knew that asking it would lead her down a path that she would never even imagine.“ If you enjoyed the short, like this video and share your thoughts in the comments below! _______________________________________________________ Meet the artist, Lauren Witt, Animator at Mercury Filmworks “Hi, I’m Lauren Valencia Witt, a girl with as many stories in her head that are as long as her own name. As an intermediate animator at Mercury, I’ve always loved the medium of animation to tell my own stories, ever since my first discovery of how personal it could be back in the days of Newgrounds. I’ve always wanted to join those animators and create grand stories, though there was a problem: I was 13 and didn’t have the slightest clue on where to start. After reading an artist bio on how they made their animated short while on summer break from college, I quickly realized that animation could have been not only learned in college but be a full-on career. My path was pretty much set in stone after that realization, and I worked hard on my artwork to be accepted into my college of choice, Algonquin College. After graduation and many studios and shows, I finally found myself in Mercury, where I felt myself really grow as an animator. With this Shorts program, I finally felt comfortable enough to finally tell one of my stories that rattle around in my brain. With this small piece of a much grander story, I hope to create a jumping-off point for many more to come, from the novel-sized Role Play forum that I created with two of my friends to small little concepts that don’t fit anywhere, but I just think are neat.
