Russia: US, NATO’s deployment of weapons to Ukraine stirring tensions - Kremlin spox

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitri Peskov said it’s the West that has been stirring tensions in Ukraine by supplying weapons to Kiev, speaking to journalists on Monday in a conference call. According to Peskov, Kiev’s troop movements near the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics is “indicative of preparations for offensive action, a threat that now exists.” “Every single piece of weaponry, whether defensive or offensive, once again inspires hotheads in Kiev to launch this operation,” he said. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in a meeting with his Foreign Intelligence Service on Monday that “the time has come not only for effective deterrence but also for offensive action in defence of Ukraine’s national interests“. Moscow has repeatedly denied accusations by the US and its allies that Russia is preparing to invade Ukraine.
