First 3D Shooter in Microsoft Excel (VBA Macros)

Update ! The release version of a game is here: блог/ and here (with the some in-game music for download): Game “Dave Vs Ziggy“: Entire gameplay of 1st level (with revealing some secrets). COMMENTS and THUMBS UP/SUBSCRIBE if you like it. Thank you for watching/playing! There are a lot of secret places in the game - try not to miss them! This game was made by me (with the help of my son Nick) in 2016 - 2018: 1) as a tribute to the my childhood favorite games from ID Software (Doom, Wolfenstein 3D), 2) to estimate how powerful Excel VBA (Visual Basic For Applications) can be in creation of 3D action game, 3) for fun. Of course, you may treat it as “one more Doom on calculator“, but indeed it has own narrative, original audio and pixel art, authentic made-from-the-scratch optimized 3D engine with “multi-floor“ design, voxel and texturized polygonal objects, shaders, interactive mechanics with puzzles, secrets, mini-games and bloody shootouts. Huge levels (entirely edited within the Excel worksheets) with all the data (including music and sounds) stored on the sheets of the one single .xls file of 7Mb size. This time game is running on Excel 2007 (on Excel 2010 it runs 2 time faster, with average 24 FPS on i3-7100). Little disclaimer: do not treat it too critically - for now i’m not a professional programmer and i’m not connected with game development industry in any manner (except rare music and sound outsource), so this attempt to make the complete video game is my first experience (pet-project).
