GAME RECAP: Penguins at Capitals () | Shea Scores First NHL Goal
Finishing their four-game road trip, the Pittsburgh Penguins traveled to Washington D.C. to play the Capitals. Pittsburgh started the game with a bang. A faceoff win collected by Reilly Smith allowed the PEnguins to control the play. Smith dished the puck back to Ryan Shea on the left point. Wasting no time, Shea picked his head up and threw a perfect shot on net to score his first NHL goal. Later in the period, Drew O’Connor cycled the puck up to P.O Joseph. Joseph walked the line and passed to Kris Letang to finish going across the ice and draw the defenders to him. Letang passed back to Joseph and shot and scored the second goal for the Penguins. Both of those goals were the Penguin’s first two shots on net for the game. Heading into the 2nd period with a 2-0 lead, Pittsburgh continued adding to it. Midway through the period, Michael Bunting rushed the puck up ice after a breakout pass from Valtteri Puustinen and blasted it on net from the top of the left circle with a slap shot.
