GAME RECAP: Penguins at Devils () | Pettersson Hits Career High For Points

The Pittsburgh Penguins took on the New Jersey Devils Tuesday night at the Prudential Center. Both teams came out with a purpose. The 1st period had a combined 26 shots between the two clubs. Only 1 of those shots went into the net. Dawson Mercer scored the lone goal for the Devils. The Penguins were able to even the score early in the 2nd on a shot from Marcus Pettersson. Rakell on the forecheck won the puck back, passing it to Michael Bunting below the goal line. Bunting gives a backward backhand pass through his legs to the point where Pettersson one-timed it in the net. Pettersson now has a career-high of 26 points this season. New Jersey on the power play, late in the 2nd period, scored their second of the night by Timo Meier. The Devils opened up the game in the third. Alexander Holtz scored and Mercer and Meier scored their second goal of the night, giving New Jersey five goals. Bryan Rust scored a second goal late in the 3rd but there was not enough time to complete a comeback. The Devils won 5-2.
