It was written in 1939 and is an informal anthem of the border and tank forces of the USSR and Russia. The song was first performed by Nikolai Kryuchkov in the movie “Tractor Drivers“ shortly after the battles on Khalkhin Gol, later it was performed by many famous performers and groups. According to legend (Laskin denies its truth), the crew from the song has a real prototype of the tank - this is the BT-7, which took part in the battles at Lake Khasan. The crew commander was Vasily Mikhailovich Agarkov, the driver-mechanic Nikolai Sergeyevich Zhitenev, the tower gunner was Sergei Mikhailovich Rumyantsev. On July 29, 1938, at night, all servicemen in the Far East were raised on alert: Japanese troops suddenly invaded the territory of the USSR at Bezymyannaya Hill. In the morning, several crews, including Vasily Agarkov, were ordered to stay in the military town and carry out guard duty. The rest were frustrated by the inability to participate in the battle.
