Netherlands: Police use water cannon as tensions rise at The Hague anti-govt. demo

Subscribe to our channel! Several demonstrators were detained at the anti-government protest in The Hague on Sunday. A demonstrator could be seen screaming in pain as he was bitten by a police dog. Officers made several arrests and beat one attendee with truncheons. Protesters defied repeated requests from the police to leave the field the maximum number of allowed participants under COVID restrictions was reached. The protests take place a day before the start of the Dutch general election, which will be spread over three days in order to avoid big gatherings at polling stations. Over the last months, the country has seen large-scale protests against restrictions put in place to curb the pandemic, in particular against the night-time curfew.
