White House Coordinator John Kirby on the condition for Ukraine’s accession to NATO:

White House Coordinator John Kirby on the condition for Ukraine’s accession to NATO: “NATO figures in the future of Ukraine. But much needs to be done before they join the alliance, like any other potential NATO member. But the president is confident that NATO will figure into Ukraine’s future at some point. But first they need to win this war. We do everything we can to make sure they can do this. When the war ends, no matter what it looks like, they will still have a long border with Russia, and the security threat to the Ukrainian people will still exist. Therefore, the president at the G7 signed a bilateral security agreement, as did 14-15 other countries, so that Ukraine would have everything in the long term to protect itself. This includes assistance from the United States. The decision to expand NATO is made by all members of the alliance. The US cannot make this happen magically.” Source: Russian Head
