Building a Wooden Optimist Pram

A time lapse video of our building of a wooden Optimist Dinghy (ok technically a Pram) over an intermittent 10 months from November of 2014 to August of 2015. The video of the sea trials is here . The story of the Optimist Dinghy is pretty amazing given where it started (Designed by Clark Mills in Clearwater Florida in 1947) to on of the most numerous sailing classes worldwide. There are over 150,000 fiberglass Optimist Dinghies worldwide. We thought we would try our hand at building our own out of wood. Taking it back to the beginning as a family project and sailing as an adventure rather than a race. The plans were from the Cleveland Amateur Boatbuilding and Boating Society (CABBS) Thanks to for the inspiration to try this project.
