The Temple of St. Sava (Serbian: Temple of Svetog Save) in Belgrade is built in honor of the first Serbian archbishop and national hero of Serbia, St. Sava (1175-1236). It was built starting in 1935 on the site of the burning of Sava’s relics by the Ottoman authorities in 1594. The largest Orthodox church in the Balkans and one of the largest in the world. The model for construction was the Hagia Sophia in Istanbul. The interior decoration of the temple, a mosaic of incredible beauty, was made in Russia. Храм Свято́го Са́ввы (серб. Храм светог Саве) в Белграде построен в честь первого сербского архиепископа и национального героя Сербии святого Саввы (1175—1236). Строился начиная с 1935 года на месте сожжения мощей Саввы османскими властями в 1594 году. Крупнейший православный храм на Балканах и один из крупнейших в мире. Образцом при строительстве послужил собор Святой Софии в Стамбуле. Внутреннее убранство храма, мозаика невероятной красоты, изготовлена в России.
