All five figures of Charles Durang’s 1847 Monterey Polka Quadrilles. This dance commemorates the early battles of the Mexican-American War (1846-1848), which was still in progress when Durang choreographed this quadrille. Normally each figure is done four times, initiated with each of the four couples in the set, but some of the repeats are skipped when performing for an audience (they don’t want to watch the same figure four times in a row).
