Elton John - The Tide Will Turn for Rebecca (orchestral demo) (1968)
A full-production demo of an early composition by Elton John & Bernie Taupin, recorded by Elton (Reg Dwight) at Dick James Studios in 1968 or 69. These were the days when Elton and Bernie were primarily employed to write songs for the Dick James organization to record with other artists. This orchestral demo (in contrast to the simple piano demo of this song) seems to particularly pitch the song to perhaps be recorded by the likes of Tom Jones or Engelbert Humperdinck. It was, however, recorded only by Edward Woodward, the British film & recording star, and released on his 1970 album “This Man Alone“, released by Dick James Music.
