“I want our music to feel like we’re giving the listener a hug” isn’t the expected answer from an artist categorically in the metal genre. Yet for Danish-Swedish quartet, VOLA, they defy conventions, combining electronic elements with a progressive and pop-infused metal sound, which at times really does feel like you’re embraced with the melodies of lead vocalist and guitarist, Asger Mygind. The melancholic characteristic of their music is one of their shining uniquenesses.
