Kiri Te Kanawa Sings “Come Scoglio“ from Mozart’s Cosi Fan Tutte.

Kiri Te Kanawa (1944-) made her Met debut in 1974, as Desdemona, and went very quickly to great international fame, especially in the Mozart-Strauss repertoire. One of the major artistic discoveries of the mid-twentieth century was that great and powerful voices work perfectly well in big Mozart arias; in fact, they are now preferred, Donna Anna’s “Or sai chi l’onore...“ being a prime example. The same can be said of this aria from Cosi Fan Tutte, which Kiri Te Kanawa renders in near-stentorian fashion.
