Syria: Six Russian naval landing ships arrive in Tartus port

Mandatory credit: Russian Ministry of Defence Six landing ships of the Northern and Baltic Fleets arrived at the Russian Navy’s logistic support point, the Syrian Tartus port, on Friday. According to the Russian Ministry of Defence, the ’Peter Morgunov’, ’Georgy Pobedonosets’, ’Olenegorsk Miner’, ’Korolev’, ’Minsk’ and ’Kaliningrad’ ships have completed a six thousand nautical mile passage around Europe and arrived in the eastern Mediterranean Sea as part of the Russian Navy’s exercise. The Ministry added that the crew of the ships began replenishing supplies of fuel and lubricants, drinking water, and food. In accordance with the training plan of the Russian Armed Forces, a series of naval exercises are being conducted in all areas of responsibility of the Russian navies in January and February.
