Car bomb attack in Moscow injures Russian military intelligence officer, his wife

A Russian military intelligence officer and his wife were severely injured after a car bomb attack in Moscow on Wednesday. After starting the vehicle, an unidentified device exploded in the officer’s Toyota Land Cruiser, blowing off both of his feet and injuring his wife, as reported by a Russian state news agency. The blast was so big it damaged five other vehicles, which witness Levon Abdaryan attested to shortly after the incident. “I saw the man who was in the driver’s seat of the car,” Abdaryan said. “A group of people came and carried him out. He couldn’t use his legs because the blast [came from] inside the car,” he added. The driver reportedly served in the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation – widely referred to as GRU. An investigation into the criminal case is underway, Russia’s interior ministry said.
