The Beatles - Something - Isolated Bass (Cover)

While I’m hard at work on the next cover, I thought I’d share one of my favorite parts from “Something.“ This bassline was one of the most complex instrumental parts I’ve ever tackled. Paul really went all out! No verse is the same, no run is articulated the same way. It’s a song unto itself. Headphones recommended! FYI, I didn’t use this take for the final version. Too much amp buzzing, plus there’s a few minor inaccurate syncopations in the second verse that I fixed for the actual video. But I do love this take. I know there’s honest disagreement about whether Paul used the Hofner or the Rickenbacker. I drift back and forth, but I’m partial to the Rickenbacker. I definitely hear some squeaky mutes in there.
