United Douglas DC-8 - “Bobby Darin & Sandra Dee“ - 12/1/60

Very early United DC-8; a series 11/12, wearing the 1950s style UAL shield, “Black Button“ nose, and sporting the original P&W JT3C “Water Burner“ turbojets! All of United’s 1st generation DC-8s were quickly converted with the JT4A engines as soon as they became available, (During 1960-61) and were thus turned into “Series 21“ aircraft. So here, we have a very unique window into a very brief time, when the “8“ was brand new. De-planing here, is the late multi-talented man of renaissance, Bobby Darin, along with Sandra Dee, most famous for the “Tammy“ movies, right after their wedding. Watch for a United DC-6 in the background too. :-) Be sure to check my channel for the BEST in VINTAGE & RARE airliner videos! “The Boxart Den“ World’s largest display & collection of FULLY RESTORED rare & collectable model kit box art
