UGM | Expeditions Documentary: Hiking out of Homelessness and Addiction

Union Gospel Mission’s ’Expeditions’ program helps men overcome homelessness and addiction through the power of nature. It’s a hiking and wilderness program offered to men within UGM’s Alcohol & Drug Recovery Program. From simple day hikes around Vancouver to multi-day wilderness expeditions—these trips are designed to help men in every stage of their recovery journey. Most trips are led by one of UGM’s Addiction Counsellors and reinforce what is taught during UGM’s 6-month Alcohol & Drug Recovery Program. Past locations include destinations like Garibaldi Lake, Black Tusk and Bowron Lakes. Participants carry their own gear, set up their own camps, cook their own food and work together as a team.
