The Chinese “spy” balloon may have turned out to be a lot of hot air and not the dangerous invasion of U.S. airspace some believed, but that’s no reason not to panic. Republican Senators like Alaska’s Dan Sullivan and Idaho’s Jim Risch have shifted into full-on fearmonger mode, demanding that the U.S. respond forcefully to this threat, ideally with ramped up military spending.
