Male Lion Attacked by Hippo

A very lucky escape for this brave young male lion that found himself surrounded by a raft of hippos and stranded on a rock in the middle of the Crocodile River, Kruger National Park. He was probably trying to cross the river when the irate hippos cornered him on the rock. The hippos were very unhappy with him in their territory and eventually attacked him. He was forced to jump into the water and swim for his life but managed to get to the southern bank of the river unharmed. He has been identified as 1 of the 5 young Gomondwane male lions that have been seen recently on the Lukimbi concession..
