1972: Queen Elizabeth II Opens Tutankhamun Exhibition at British Museum

November 2022 marks 100 years since Howard Carter’s discovery of the 3000-year-old tomb of Tutankhamun in Egypt’s Valley of the Kings. Fifty years after its discovery, in 1972, Queen Elizabeth II opened the Tutankhamun exhibition at the British museum. ITN was there to cover the unpackaging of the boy king’s incredible “death mask“, and to follow the Queen on her private tour of the exhibition ahead of its opening to the public. #Tutankhamun #QueenElizabethII #AncientEgypt To license the footage featured in this clip, follow the link below: OR AS290372001* OR FS280172002*&sort=best&license=rf,rr To search the ITN Archive collection on Getty Images, follow the link below: 🎥 Subscribe to our YouTube channel (tap the bell icon and stay up to date with all the latest ITN Archive videos!) - @ITNArchive 🎥 Follow us on Twitter - 🎥 Like us on Facebook - 🎥 Check out our TikTok - @itnarchive1955
