Mutant Frames of Reference by Sam Smith (guitarist: Sophie Marcheff)

Through a generous donation from Peter and Rasika Crowley, Sam Smith was commissioned to write this solo guitar work for Guitar Perspectives. It is performed here by MCM Honours student Sophie Marcheff who gave the first performance on August 3 2019 at the Hanson Dyer Hall, Melbourne Conservatorium of Music. Mutant Frames of Reference is a short, virtuosic piece, originally conceived as a 21st-century response to the 19th-century show piece that forms such an important part of the guitar repertoire.
